Black Beauty Blondos

Black Beauty Blondos

Once upon a time I owned a pair of black booties, and I never wore them. I didn’t think they looked good with blue jeans and since that was all I really wore, the boots did not get worn. Ever since then, I’ve only owned brown booties because I have been slightly fearful to let another pair of booties sit and collect dust.

But as I have been watching everyone around me walk around in these really cute black ankle booties, pointed toe, flat heeled shoe, I have found myself wondering if maybe I could make it work. My wardrobe has slowly become far less colorful (think white, beige, navy, grey, and black) and I prefer black over blue denim, so maybe a pair of black booties now, wouldn’t collect dust. Plus winter doesn’t seem quite like brown bootie weather (at least not every day, maybe).

So my sister graciously bought me a pair for Christmas (husben made sure they were water proof) and I’ve barely worn anything else (except winter boots or rainboots, because Boston winter).

SM Elvina Booties |Denim Jeans (Madewell Roadtripper, at Nordstrom)|
Faux Leather Jacket (J Crew Factory, similar)

These have just enough heel to give the effect of being a little taller than I actually am (#shortpeopleproblems) without feeling like my arches are dying. They were the only shoes I wore for a weekend in New York and my feet weren’t screaming for a break by the end of the day.

I’ll confess I started writing this post about a month ago (whoops), and since then have worn these booties through slush, snow and rain (I may not take the best care of my booties, I know), and while they look a little loved, still look great. They’ve got a healthy broken in look.

As a side, I do a lot of walking at work, but need shoes that will look a little more appropriate than rainboots and these boots make the cut. They’re practical and cute. That’s a win.

They are a little on the pricier side, and it hurt (I’m sure) my sister’s wallet and heart to spend the money (thank you sister!!), but I think they have been well worth the cost.

What is your current go-to shoe that you are constantly reaching for?

Would like to point out that I literally where my blondos all the time now too 🙂 they’re just so easy when you don’t have to worry about getting them wet!

Right?! It’s so nice not to have to worry about sudden rain/puddles midday. 🙂
