Friendsgiving 2018

Friendsgiving 2018

Y’all. I love Friendsgiving. I love the dreaming and planning of what a gathering of friends and community will look like. I love dreaming up a menu friends can enjoy and connect over. I love creating a space that is warm and welcoming and feels festive. I love watching it all come together and see beautiful friendships form and deepen.

This Friendsgiving was all that and more. It was a little bigger with a little wider circle of friends and it was so heart warming to see friends from different walks of life connect, you know what I mean? I think that is what I loved so much about our wedding; my favorite people were meeting other favorite people and becoming friends. Anyways, I digress.

Getting to decorate was such a joy. I’ve gathered a lot of items over the last few years and went on a bit of a splurge this year too. All of my goodies are either from Target (shoutout to the sweet $1 front section), Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Homegoods or Paper Source. Oh or leftovers from our wedding!

I love playing with dimensions so a table isn’t just one flat height, but wanting to create depth to the table. Mini cake stands help elevate candles and different size mason jars or candle holders help add the desired depth and movement to the table. The garlands created a base to work from and the mini pumpkins and pinecones (both real and fake) spread throughout fill the space and bring in other texture and color.

I’m learning to also love florals and floral wreaths are so fun. Shoutout to Michaels for the supplies and Trader Joe’s for the beautiful flowers and greenery.

Overall, my heart is over flowing with joy and my stomach a little too full (even the day after). I’m grateful for the most incredible housemates and our home which seemed to expand to allow space for everyone at the table. I’m grateful for our friends and community for sharing in Friendsgiving with us and making it difficult to find more chairs to accommodate all of us.

Apologies for the somewhat lack of photos, I was too caught up in the moment to thoroughly capture everything well. If you have specific questions about something, let me know in the comments!

What are you grateful for this Thanksgiving season?
